Steadman's Goal Lifts Field Hockey Over UNC

CHAPEL HILL, NC - Junior Forward Laura Steadman (Va. Beach, Va.) scored the games only goal with 25 seconds left in regulation to give third ranked Old Dominion University a 1-0 victory over second ranked North Carolina Sept. 16.

The Lady Monarchs are now 5-1 and UNC is 5-1. In a defensive struggle, Old Dominion outshot the Tar Heels, 4-3, while UNC led in penalty corners , 7-6. Lady Monarch sophomore goaltender Marybeth Freeman (Holland, Pa.) picked up the shutout.

The Lady Monarchs travel to 11th ranked William and Mary for a CAA match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
