ODU Field Hockey Defeats VCU, 8-0 in CAA Tournament Opener

  • James Madison Tops William & Mary in Second Semifinal

    NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 4) -- Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA.) and Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) scored two goals each as top ranked Old Dominion University defeated Virginia Commonwealth University, 8-0 in the semi-finals of the Colonial Athletic Association field hockey tournament. The Lady Monarchs (20-1) will meet the James Madison, a 2-1 winner over William & Mary on Sunday at 1 p.m for the CAA Championship.

    Angie Loy (Loysville, Pa.) put Old Dominion on the board with 32:38 left in the first half. Tiffany Snow scored the next two Lady Monarch goals to give ODU a 3-0 lead. Marina DiGiacomo, the nation's leading scorer and CAA four-time Player of the Year finished the first half scoring with two more goals and a 5-0 halftime lead.

    Old Dominion outshot VCU, 30-4. The Rams goalie Anne Forrester (Norfolk, Va.) had 16 saves on the day. VCU completes the season at 4-14.
