Lady Monarchs Top New Hampshire, 5-2, To Go Perfect On Weekend

University Park, Pa. (Aug. 27) - The Old Dominion field hockey team posted a 5-2 victory over New Hampshire Aug. 27 at Penn State in University Park. The Lady Monarchs improve to 2-0 overall while the Wildcats fall to 1-1 overall.

Old Dominion scored all five of its goals in the first half, jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead before New Hampshire registered its first goal. At the intermission, the Lady Monarchs led 5-1.

Sophomore Marjolijn van der Sommen (Leiden, Netherlands) and freshman Angie Loy (Loysville, Pa.) led the way with two goals apiece while senior Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) collected a goal and an assist. Van der Sommen netted the first two goals of the game.

Old Dominion will travel to defending national champion Maryland on Sunday, September 2. The Lady Monarchs will open their home schedule with a September 9 tilt against Duke.
