Norfolk, Va. (Oct. 14) - The second-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team posted an 11-0 shutout win over CAA foe Richmond Oct. 14 at Foreman Field on the campus of Old Dominion University. With the win, Old Dominion improves to 14-1 overall (4-0 CAA) while Richmond falls to 6-9 overall (1-3 CAA).
Honda Award hopeful Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) led the scoring attack, netting four goals and an assist on the afternoon. Sophomore Marjolijn van der Sommen (Leiden, Netherlands) collected five assists while junior back Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, Pa.) added a goal and four assists.
The Lady Monarchs will host top-ranked Maryland Sunday at 1 pm. Earlier this season, Maryland topped Old Dominion, 5-4 in double overtime.
