Norfolk, Va. (Sept. 24) - The second-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team posted a 5-1 win over #8 Virginia on Sept. 24 at Foreman Field on the campus of Old Dominion University. With the win, Old Dominion improves to 8-1 overall (2-0 CAA) while state rival Virginia falls to 3-2 overall.

Three Lady Monarchs registered goals on the afternoon with Honda Award hopeful Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) leading the way with a hat trick. The senior midfielder was three-for-three on penalty strokes for the winners. Laura Steadman (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Julie Miracle (Audubon, Pa.) chipped in with a goal apiece.

Before taking to the road, Old Dominion will host CAA foe American on Sept. 27 at 6 pm. The Lady Monarchs will then play at Boston University Sept. 30 and Northeastern on Oct. 1.
