NORMAN No. 6 Oklahoma men’s golf won its second team title of the season, while junior Brad Dalke finished as the individual medalist at the Lone Star Invitational.  The two-day, 54-hole tournament was played at the par-72, 7,247-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.

The team victory is the 17th under ninth-year head coach Ryan Hybl. The Sooners are now back-to-back champions at the Lone Star Invitational.

OU won the tournament by 17 shots, finishing with a three-day score of 849 (-15), its second-lowest 54-hole total of the season. The Sooners fired a 284 (-4) during Tuesday’s final round, the lowest round of the day among the 15-team field.

“It’s always fun to win. It is very difficult in our sport to get wins and we cherish every one of them,” Hybl said.

Arkansas State took second place at 866 (+2), followed by UTEP at 870 (+6). Kansas finished fourth with a three-day score of 872 (+8), while New Mexico State placed fifth at 877 (+13).

Junior Brad Dalke earned his second individual tournament title of his career with a three-round 208 (-8). Dalke’s birdie on the 18th hole propelled the junior to the first-place finish. The Norman, Okla., native posted a 67 (-5) in the final round to claim the title outright over Arkansas State’s Jakub Bares.

“Brad had a great day that allowed him to win and this will continue to help his confidence and game,” Hybl said of the junior. “It is time for us to start picking up momentum for the spring and this is a good start.”

Senior Grant Hirschman finished in sole possession of third place with an overall 210 (-6). The senior posted a 70 (-2) during Tuesday’s final round. The senior closed the day on a strong note with an eagle on hole No. 11 and played the back nine without a bogey on his scorecard.
