NORMAN – The Oklahoma soccer team concluded its home slate on a high note, earning a gritty 3-2 win over the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.

“I think, first and foremost, it’s good to get back to winning ways,” head coach Matt Potter said. “I’m pleased in the way that we went forward today, being that it’s our last regular home game of the season. To put that type of attack in, performance in, leaves a good taste for everybody to look forward to the future. Overall, (it was) pleasing.”

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Sooners came out fighting and recorded 11 of their 17 total shots in the second half.

“At halftime, obviously it wasn’t where we wanted it to be,” senior Lizzie Luallin said. “We had a pretty raw conversation in the locker room, and coach basically said, ‘Your character’s going to be revealed in how you respond in the second half.’ We came out and responded the way we wanted to. I’m really proud of everybody.”

In the 50th minute, Rasha Roberts put the Sooners on the board with her second goal of the season. From six yards out, Roberts battled two Wildcat defenders before firing right down the middle of the goal to knot things up.

Kaylee Dao would give the Sooners their first lead of the match in the 74th minute on a perfectly placed header. Tori Bowman earned the assist, firing a free kick at Dao who knocked the ball just inside the post for the 2-1 lead.

Luallin was credited with the game winner on her first goal of the season in the 77th minute. A well-placed free-kick from Bowman found Luallin just outside the 18-yard box. Luallin seized the opportunity to fire through the K-State defense, ricocheting her shot off the post and behind the Wildcats keeper.

Kansas State scored in the 22nd minute off the foot of Brookelynn Entz. In the 80th minute, Maddie Souder scored for the Wildcats, cutting it to a 3-2 game.

The Sooners will wrap up the regular season at Texas Tech on Friday at 6 p.m. The Big 12 Tournament begins on Wednesday Nov. 1 in Kansas City, Mo.
