NORMAN On a rainy night in Ames, Iowa, the Oklahoma soccer team recorded its third tie in conference play as the Sooners played Iowa State to a scoreless draw.

“We can’t be disappointed with the score when we don’t perform both individually and collectively,” head coach Matt Potter said. “Iowa State probably felt harshly done by, and rightly so, creating the games clearest chances.”

Oklahoma is now 1-0-4 in overtime games this season and has played three straight in conference play. The Sooners have picked up a point in the Big 12 standings each of the last three games, as they have tied Baylor, Texas and ISU.

McKinley Crone set her career high in saves, recording 10 in 110 minutes of action. Crone has recorded 27 saves in her last three games with nine against Baylor and eight against Texas. Named the Defensive Player of the Week by the conference, Crone once again stepped up big in goal and has now held opponents scoreless for the last 331:57 minutes of play.

One of the best looks from the Sooners came in the 35th minute on a shot from Rasha Roberts. Battling through the ISU defense, Roberts aimed a shot at the far post but the ISU keeper made a diving save to keep the game scoreless.

In the first overtime period, Jordyn Knox came close to ending the game with a beautiful shot on goal. From inside the 18-yard box Knox fired a shot just inside the post and right into the hands of the Iowa State keeper.

Crone was tested once again and made some impressive saves in regulation to keep the Cyclones off the board. Late in the second half Iowa State was rattling off shots, but Crone would come up big with impressive diving saves.

The Cyclones narrowly outshot the Sooners at a 19-14 clip, but held a larger 10-4 shots-on-goal advantage. Iowa State’s Klasey Medelberg led all players with seven shots on the night, while Tori Bowman led all Sooners with three shots.

Next up for the Sooners is a Sunday afternoon match at No. 8 West Virginia. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start on FSN.
