NEWARK, Del. – It was a night to remember at the Bob Carpenter Center on Tuesday night when the University of Delaware athletic department celebrated its 2017-18 season with the first-ever edition of the “Hennies.”

The Hennies brought together nearly 600 UD student-athletes, staff members and coaches to recognize the hard work and success of the past year. The event, which was led by SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) brought out the blue carpet, photo booth and a DJ to make it a truly memorable night.

CAA Player of the Year Nicole Enabosi and NFL draft Bilal Nichols were honored as the Outstanding Female and Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year.

Four-time All-CAA honoree and CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year Emmeline Oltmans of the field program was named the Mary Ann Hitchens Award winner, while men’s lacrosse co-captain Will Hirschmann took home the Edgar Johnson Award.

The most prestigious honors bestowed on a UD student-athlete, the Johnson and Hitchens Awards are presented to a senior letterwinner who has exhibited the qualities of hard work, dedication, leadership, fairness, and striving for excellence that were the hallmarks of Johnson's and Hitchens' career. Johnson served as UD Director of Athletics for 25 years while Hitchens was a pioneer in women's athletics and served as UD's Senior Associate Director of Athletics as part of a 41-year career at Delaware. Both were on hand to present the awards to the winners.

In addition, the National Championship Dance Team was awarded their rings for their achievement this past year.
