University of Delaware freshman guard Ryan Allen earned his fourth Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week award and his second in as many weeks, the conference announced Monday.

Allen (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) led the Blue Hens in scoring during both games on the week, averaging 22.0 points. He has led the team in scoring in seven of the last eight games, including four in a row.

Allen scored 19 points on Thursday vs. Northeastern and added 25 on Saturday at William & Mary. He knocked down a career-high tying six three-pointers in Williamsburg, setting the UD single season freshman record. Allen currently ranks sixth in the country among freshmen with 69 three-pointers made. He has reached double figures in 11 straight games and has hit a three-pointer during all 24 games of his career, the second longest streak in UD history.

Allen has now won the CAA Rookie of the Week title four times, tied for the second most in school history along with Alphonso Dawson (2007-08), Devon Saddler (2010-11) and Jarvis Threatt (2011-12). Blue Hen sophomore Ryan Daly has the most in UD history, earning six honors in his rookie season.

This is the sixth conference Rookie of the Week honor for a Blue Hen this season, as freshman Kevin Anderson captured the award on Dec. 18 and Dec. 26. For two consecutive years, Delaware has set the school record for most Rookie of the Week awards in a season with six.
