CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association decision Thursday night at the College of Charleston.

The Blue Hens (5-9-2, 2-5 CAA) fell behind early Thursday as Cougars' junior Laura Ortega scored a pair of goals just 85 seconds apart.

UD and Charleston ( (8-5-1, 3-2-1 CAA) played the remainder of the first half without either team scoring. Following the halftime break, Charleston added a 70th-minute goal when Ana Lesmes beat Kailyn Rekos.

Rekos made one save in the nets for Delaware while senior Krista Trinidad tallied a pair of shots.

Delaware returns home next Thursday night, Oct. 19, for a 7 p.m. contest against Elon. The Phoenix and Blue Hens are currently tied with six points for the seventh spot in the CAA. Six teams advance to the CAA Tournament which begins Oct. 29. 

Elon plays at Hofstra Sunday afternoon, while the Blue Hens don’t return to action until next Thursday’s match vs. Elon. Delaware concludes the regular season a week from Sunday against James Madison.
