HEN SCRATCHINGS

  • TWO OUT OF THREE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: A pair of Delaware women’s soccer players earned Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honors. Junior Hannah Specht was named CAA Player of the Week and freshman Riley Dixon was named CAA Rookie of the Week. Both Dixon and Specht had massive weeks for the Blue Hens. On Friday, Specht tallied her first two career goals, the last of which occurred 41 seconds in double overtime. Sunday, it was Dixon’s turn to score a golden goal, as the freshman tallied the game-winner three minutes into the double overtime period. In addition to Sunday’s goal, Dixon also recorded a pair of assists on Specht’s two goals. The teammates are the first set of Blue Hens to earn conference weekly recognition in the same week since 1999.
  • GOING STREAKING: The Blue Hens have won back-to-back matches, and are unbeaten in their last three. Delaware tied Saint Joseph’s two weeks ago, before compiling a perfect 2-0 weekend this past weekend. On Friday, Delaware defeated Marist 2-1 in double overtime. Sunday, the Blue Hens completed the perfect weekend with a 2-1 double overtime victory. The two double overtime results were the first back-to-back double overtime wins in program history.
  • THREE IN A ROW: The Blue Hens are looking for their first three game winning streak since Sept. 6-13, 2015 when Delaware defeated Brown, Princeton, and George Washington. A win or a tie would create Delaware’s first four-match unbeaten streak since 2013.
