BATON ROUGE, La –  Lady Jaguars fast start was too much for Tougaloo to handle, led by senior guard Brittany Rose on Wednesday night at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Rose was one of six Jaguars to score in double digits on wednesday night. Rose led all scorers with 21 points, four-assist, and four rebounds. Freshman guard Genovea Johnson added 14 points shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the field. Caitlin Davis, Amani McWain and Taneara Moore each added 11 points. Jaden Towner chipped in ten points along with five rebounds.

At the end of the first half, the Jaguars were leading the Bulldogs 58-19. In the third quarter, SU picked up their defensive intensity forcing 5 straight turnovers and outscoring the Bulldogs 22-5.

Southern held a decisive turnover advantage, as the Jaguars forced Tougaloo to turn the ball over 35 times, scoring 46 points off turnovers. Rose and Johnson had five steals each helping the Jaguars turn up the heat on defense to get 28 steals from the Bulldogs.

The Jaguars played eleven players against the Bulldogs and all eleven got into the scoring column.

Jalisa Smith shot fifty percent from behind the arch for the Bulldogs. Smith finished the night with 12 points and a team-high three rebounds.
