LUBBOCK, Texas - Saint Louis junior RHP Alex Alemann has been selected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year watch list. The list features 51 athletes from across the NCAA.
Alemann has a 5-0 record on the season while touting a 2.71 ERA over 64.1 innings pitched. He has amassed 48 strikeouts while issuing only 15 walks and holding opponents to a .222 batting average. Alemann has surrendered only five extra-base hits.
Earlier this season, Alemann tossed 27.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
Alemann earned A-10 Pitcher of the Week accolades on March 5 and March 12. On the fifth, the Weston, Fla., native threw a complete-game shutout in a 2-0 victory over St. Mary's. He limited the Gaels to a .129 batting average and fanned nine while walking only three. The following week, Alemann defended his title with flair, hurling his second-straight shutout. Against North Dakota, he went seven strong innings of shutout baseball. Alemann fanned eight while allowing four hits, his only base-runners of the game.
The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions. The event features the presentation of numerous awards and the induction ceremony for this year's Hall of Fame class.
