Academic Expectations

  • Attend all classes and complete all academic assignments. 
  • Treat your professors/instructors with respect at all times. 
  • Consult Billiken Student-Athlete Academic Support Services and your program academic advisor on all academic advisement matters. 
  • Attend tutoring sessions and study hall, and complete other academic responsibilities that are applicable to you. 
  • Maintain a course load of at least 12 credit hours during both the fall and spring semesters. 
  • It is highly recommended you enroll in a minimum of 15 credit hours at the beginning of each semester. At no time during the semester may you drop below 12 hours. If you drop below 12 hours, you are immediately ineligible.
  • Accept responsibility for maintaining academic eligibility. 
  • Familiarize yourself with NCAA and A-10 guidelines governing eligibility.
  • Make day-to-day progress toward your degree from Saint Louis University. 

You must OFFICIALLY declare your major by the beginning of your fifth semester or third year in college. This includes transfer students. Follow up with your program advisor, then submit the proper paperwork to the Registrar. If you have yet to fill out one of these forms, you have NOT OFFICIALLY declared your major.

Excellence in Academic Programming 

  • Academic Excellence Night - Student- athletes attaining at least a 3.0 grade point average in the spring or fall semester are honored as Blue- Scholar Billikens. 
  • Billiken “Straight A” Luncheon - Student-athletes earning a 4.0 semester GPA or straight A’s are asked to invite a faculty/staff member who has inspired their academic excellence.
  • Faculty Appreciation Night - Allows Billiken Athletics to express its gratitude for the diligence of University faculty.
  • Resumé Writing & Interview Workshops - Student-athletes can get tips on how to improve their resumes and enhance their interview skills.  
  • Career Athletes - This partnership offers SLU student-athletes unique career development and professional networking opportunities.
  • Career Fairs - Offer student-athletes an opportunity to meet with potential employers.
  • Etiquette Dinner - To teach Billiken student-athletes the proper protocol during formal dining settings.
