ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Michael Mulcahy, a 2015 graduate of the University of New Mexico, has been named an assistant director of communications for Lobo Athletics. The announcement was made by Frank Mercogliano, Assistant A.D. for Communications.
Mulcahy spent the past four years as a student assistant, handling cross country, track and field and beach volleyball. He also ran UNM’s official Instagram page and developed many of the graphics seen on the official website GoLobos.com and on social media. He will continue to handle those sports along with becoming the lead contact for UNM volleyball.
Mulcahy was the 2014-15 winner of the CoSIDA Fred Nuesch Undergraduate Scholarship. At the time of the award, Mulcahy had a 3.94 GPA. He was a member of the Dean’s List as well as a National Hispanic Scholar and graduated summa cum laude with a 3.99 GPA in journalism and mass communications.
“I’m really excited about Mike joining our staff as a full-time member,” said Mercogliano. “Mike’s work as a student speaks for itself, and we put a lot on his plate as a student in terms of working with nationally relevant programs and social media, along with his school work.
