ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico third baseman Carl Stajduhar earned his third Freshman All-America honor of the year Wednesday when he was named to the first team by PerfectGame.org. Stajduhar was previously named Second Team All-Region by the ABCA, as well as a Freshman All-American by both Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the NCBWA.
A native of Fort Collins, Colo., Stajduhar hit .322 and set a new UNM freshman record for RBIs with 53, which led the team. He also led the Lobos in hits (75), doubles (21), home runs (nine), total bases (127), and was the only player to appear in all 59 games this season, including 58 starts. He was second on the squad in runs (45) and slugging (.545). His play also earned him All-Mountain West second team honors, and he earned a spot on the MW All-Tournament Team after leading the Lobos to the championship game in May.
