The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team dominated in its second home exhibition match on Sunday at the Lobos Soccer Complex, defeating Fort Lewis College 5-0.
Claire Lynch, who will be a sophomore next season, scored two goals and senior-to-be Madisyn Olguin added a score after both scored last week in their first exhibition match at home, a 2-1 victory over Denver University on April 4.
Junior Brooke Webster added a goal and an assist as the Lobos scored more goals in their exhibition Sunday than in any of their games during a 2014 season in which they went 10-6-2.
Lynch opened the scoring in the 13th minute off an assist from junior Maddie Irwin. Webster got the game’s second goal on a direct kick.
Olguin’s score came in the 40th minute from an assist by sophomore Ashley Ballantyne.
Lynch, who led UNM in goals scored last season with four, got her third in two exhibition games in the 54th minute off an assist from Casey Murphy. Katie Hinman capped the scoring with a goal in the 60th minute with Webster assisting.
Senior Cassie Ulrich started in goal, but sophomore Laura DeMers and freshman Morgan Devine both contributed to the shutout as the Lobos outshot the Skyhawks 24-4.
UNM will continue with its exhibition season on Saturday when it travels to Texas Tech and then will conclude the spring with an April 26 match at UTEP.
