The William and Mary men's golf squad announced its 2012-13 schedule today, a slate that includes nine regular-season tournaments leading up to the Colonial Athletic Association.  Director of Golf Jay Albaugh and the Tribe will also host two events in Williamsburg, one in September and one in March.

The tour begins in Huntington, W.Va., for the Marshall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10-11.  Marshall has been a common sight on the Tribe schedules recently, with six tournaments in the past seven years.  Two weeks later, W&M will host the seventh annual Joe Agee Invitational at The Williamsburg Club.  The two-day, three-round tournament on Sept. 24-25 is held in honor of W&M Hall-of-Fame coach Joe Agee '52, who can still be found on the course most days.  The Tribe has finished as high as second in the event, including in 2010.

Just one week later, Coach Albaugh and his team head back on the road to take part in the Cobra/Puma Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla.  The tournament will be hosted at the Miromar Lakes Golf Club on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.  A three-week break follows, until the Tribe heads to Beallsville, Md., for the Georgetown Invitational on Oct. 22-23.  W&M has been a fixture at the Hoyas' tournament every year since 2003-04, with a high finish of second in 2008-09.  The fall will draw to a close with a trip to Kiawah Island, S.C., for the Kiawah Invitational.  The three-day tournament will run from Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 28-30.

The spring gets off to an early start this year, with the Tribe taking on Francis Marion and a host of others at the Wexford Plantation Invitational on Feb. 18-19.  The Florence, S.C., event has been a fixture on the schedule in recent years, including in 2010-11 when the College took runner-up honors.  More than a month will pass until the next event, when the Tribe returns home for the C&F Bank Intercollegiate.  The 36th annual W&M spring tournament will once again be held on the River Course at Kingsmill, and will run from March 24-26.  The very next week W&M will be back at it, traveling to Prospect Bay Golf Club in Maryland for the Fireline Towson Intercollegiate.  Towson's tournament will run March 31-April 2, with the Tribe looking to better its second-place showing from 2008-09.

The rest of the month of April only has two events, both coming at the end.  On Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21, W&M will compete in Raleigh, N.C. at the NC State Wolfpack Classic.  That event is the final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, which will be hosted this year by The Reserve Club at St. James April 26-28, in Southport, N.C.  The Tribe will be looking to reclaim the conference title for the first time since the mid-1980's, after coming close with top-three finishes in both 2009 and 2010.

Depending on its performance throughout the season and at the conference tournament, the College could secure a post-season berth.  The CAA Champion earns an automatic bid to one of six NCAA Regional sites, as do a number of at-large teams from around the nation.  The three-round Regional will be held May 16-18, with the top finishers in both the team and individual standings advancing to the NCAA Championships May 28-June 2 in Atlanta, Ga.  The national championships include three rounds of stroke play to determine the individual champion, and the top eight teams move on to three days of match-play to decide the national title.
