North Dakota State (8-14, 4-6 Summit League) is scheduled to host Oakland University (8-13, 2-7 Summit League) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Bison Sports Arena (5,830) ... The Bison earned a split on the road last week, dropping a 62-60 decision on a last-second shot at Kansas City and defeating South Dakota 57-50 as Katie Birkel and Dani DeGagne combined to score 41 points ... The Golden Grizzlies are in ninth place in the league standings, NDSU is tied for sixth ... North Dakota State is scheduled to host Fort Wayne (8-13, 4-5 Summit League) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 ... The Mastodons are in fifth place in the league standings ... Saturday has been designated as the WBCA “Play4Kay” game ... Previously known as the WBCA Pink Zone, “Play 4Kay” is an initiative that unites a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond ... Edith Sanford Breast Health will be on hand to pass out pink mini-flags to the first 200 fans ... The Bison will wear pink uniforms ... The cheer team and Thundar will be wearing pink accessories ... North Dakota State senior guard Hannah Linz has experienced a recurrence of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and has begun treatment ... NDSU student-athletes have rallied for Hannah and are asking for goodwill donations ... Approximately $6,800 has been raised entering this weekend ... The offerings can be placed in a “Hoops for Hannah” basket during remaining home events ... Donations can be made directly to the Hannah Linz Fund, c/o Gate City Bank, 500 2nd Ave. N., Fargo, N.D. 58102, or in person at any Gate City Bank location ... Linz was originally diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma on April 8, 2010, following her freshman season with the Bison ... “We have witnessed firsthand Hannah’s fight to beat it the first time and see this setback as nothing different in her approach to win the battle with cancer this time,” said head coach Carolyn DeHoff. “We ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers and respect Hannah’s privacy at this time.” ... Individually in the top 10, Dani DeGagne is 2nd in rebounding (7.7 rpg), 3rd in steals (2.4 spg), 4th in assists (3.9 apg), 5th in assist/turnover ratio (1.6), 7th in free throw shooting (.795, 35-44) and 8th in scoring (14.6 ppg); Katie Birkel is 4th in scoring (16.2 ppg), 7th in assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and tied for 9th in assists (3.2 apg), and Marena Whittle is 3rd in rebounding (7.6 rpg) ... Team-wise (top three), the Bison are second in assist/turnover margin (+1.1), and third in turnover margin (+2.6 avg/g) and free throw shooting (.759, 107-141).

North Dakota State 5-foot-8 senior Katie Birkel is moving up the career charts ... Birkel, who missed last season due to a knee injury, has moved up to 12th on the all-time scoring list with 1,345 points ... She is averaging 12.3 points per game during her career ... Birkel has started all 109 games played, 5th all-time ... She is 1st in minutes played per game (33.7 avg/g), 4th in three-point field goals attempted (390), 7th in assists per game (3 apg) and three-point field goals made (123), 8th in steals per game average (1.8 avg/g), field goals attempted (1,277) and defensive rebounds (319), tied for 9th in assists (328) and 10th in steals (191) and scoring average ... North Dakota State is 41-10 over the past five seasons when holding opponents to 59 points or less ...
