BROOKINGS, S.D.--Cristina Borek went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to lift North Dakota State University to a 6-2 second game win over South Dakota State University and salvage a Summit League doubleheader split Saturday, April 28, at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium.

North Dakota State (15-5 Summit, 31-18) maintains a two-game lead in first place in the league standings with Western Illinois dropping a pair at South Dakota on Saturday. The Bison and SDSU (5-15 Summit, 13-26-1) close out the three-game series at noon Sunday, April 29.

In the second game, Borek doubled to lead off the top of the second inning, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Brea Konz sacrifice fly to put the Bison ahead 1-0.

North Dakota State extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the third. Alex Sobrero and Brandi Enriquez each drew walks with a Sobrero steal in between. Katie Tamayo doubled to right center to knock in one run, while a SDSU throwing error chased home another. Borek delivered a two-out single to push across the third run of the frame.

South Dakota State cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on an error and Morgan McCabe's RBI single.

The Bison closed out the scoring in the top of the seventh inning. Borek belted a two-run home run, her sixth of the season.

Krista Menke (21-10) recorded the win for NDSU and posted her eighth two-hitter of the season. Menke struck out eight and walked two. Kori Seidlitz (5-11) was saddled with the loss. Seidlitz allowed seven hits, struck out four and walked four.

South Dakota State rallied back twice to defeat the Bison in the first game, using a pair of four-run innings in the fifth and sixth to overtake NDSU.

The Jackrabbits needed only two hits to capitalize on a pair of errors, a passed ball, a two-run fielder's choice and Devon Rieck sacrifice fly to take a 4-2 lead.

North Dakota State came back with three runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 5-4. Enriquez doubled home one run and Jamie Gay came through with a two-run single. Enriquez' double was the first extra base hit in her career.

The lead was short-lived. SDSU's Sammy Bingham lined a two-run double down the left field line and Krista Honken recorded a run-scoring single. Bingham later scored on a wild pitch to put the Jackrabbits up 8-5.

Pam Michelson and Mindy Lorimor pitched for South Dakota State. Lorimor (2-1) recorded the win, pitching a scoreless 1.2 innings. Menke and Whitney Johnson worked on the mound for NDSU with Menke picking up the loss.

Konz led the Bison with tow hits, while Tina Winter had pair of hits and two runs scored for SDSU.
