CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte golf’s Seth Gandy shot a three-over 75 in the second round of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional on Tuesday afternoon. The top individual not on one of the five qualifying teams after Wednesday’s final round will move on to the NCAA Championship in Oregon.
Gandy, starting on the back nine Tuesday, began with a bogey on his opening hole, the par-five 10th. After a couple of pars, Gandy bogeyed the par-four 13th to sit at two-over for the day. Gandy remained two over until dropping a third shot on the par-three 17th making the turn with a 39 (+3).
Opening his back nine, Gandy got one of those shots back with a birdie on the par-four first. Back at two-over for the day, the junior lost his final shot on the par-four fifth before writing down par over his final four holes.
“Seth just never could quite get anything going today,” started Head Coach Ryan Cabbage. “He had a lot of shots that were really pretty good, but they didn’t end up in spots that he could really take advantage of with scoring opportunities. He’ll be ok. He needs a good round tomorrow in order to put himself in position to advance, but I think he has a good round in him.”
Overall, Gandy sits at three-over for the tournament after rounds of 72 and 75. Gandy sits in a five-way tie for 26th heading into Wednesday’s final round. Gandy will begin his final round at 10:31 a.m. eastern going off of the back nine. Live scoring will be available at http://www.charlotte49ers.com.
