Men's Golf 12th in Texas; Round 2 Halted Due to Darkness

BRYAN, Texas – Charlotte men’s golf currently sits in 12th place at the Aggie Invitational after the second round was halted due to darkness with six teams still on the course with no more than three holes to play.

Seth Gandy had the best overall day for the 49ers carding a 75 (+3) in round one followed by knocking a stroke off in his second round 74 (+2). The southpaw started with an opening birdie on 10, one of three in his round, and sat even through six. Gandy would make the turn with a tough double bogey on 18 at three-over and traded a bogey and birdie during his front side for a 75. In round two, Gandy would convert three more birdies, including his second-straight on the par-five 15th, to end his day with 74.

Victor Wiggins struggled in his first round 79 (+7) before bouncing back in round two. Wiggins, one of two Niners who have to finish their final hole on Sunday morning, saw five bogies and one birdie begin his day before one more birdie on the par-four first aided his 79. Wiggins was in the midst of a one-over round two when play was stopped.

Tyler Young began the long day with a 76 (+4) followed by a 79 (+7) in round two. Young began his day in solid fashion with a pair of birdies over his first three holes. After a bogey on 13 sent him to one-under, the redshirt freshman carried that one-under mark through his opening nine making the turn with a 35. Young ran into problems with five bogies over his first seven holes of the back en route to his 76. In round two, Young added a birdie on the front nine and finished with two in a three hole stretch for his 79.

Thomas Rowland started his front nine with a birdie on 16 for a one-over 37 before three-straight birdies in the middle of the back helped keep his score at six-over 78. In round two, the senior sat at seven-over with one final hole when play resumes Sunday.

Nicolas Manifacier started his opening round with a 78 (+6) followed by an 81 (+9) in round two. Manifacier began even through his first four holes but lost five shots over his next four holes before making the turn with a birdie on one, his 10th hole of the day. Manifacier dropped just two more shots in round one with seven pars on his back side. Round two saw the sophomore shoot the same five-over on the opening nine but had one last birdie to help get back to his nine-over.

Wiggins and Rowland will finish their final hole of round two starting at 8:00 a.m. eastern before the third and final round kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Charlotte will tee it up with Michigan and Texas Tech starting at 9:40 a.m. Sunday. Live scoring will once again be available through
