Wilmington, NC - Tyler McSwain scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs as UNCW posted a 10-3 Colonial Athletic Association win over Hofstra Friday night at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks improved to 19-15 overall and 11-2 in league play with the victory while the Pride dropped to 18-14 overall and 9-4 in CAA action.

UNCW scored three times in the first and built a 5-0 lead after five innings. Hunter Ridge had three hits and a pair of RBIs to pace the UNCW offense.

The Seahawks wasted no time as they scored three times in the first off Pride starter Jared Rogers (0-4). Ridge and Drew Farber each had RBI base hits in the inning.
Rogers gave up five runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

UNCW extended its lead to 5-0 with a run in the third and another in the fifth. Thomas Pope's infield single in the third drove in a run and Ridge delivered an RBI single to center in the fifth.

The Pride got on the board against McSwain (5-2) in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Danny Poma.

UNCW responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend to an 8-1 advantage. Matt Campbell singled in the first run and Andrew Cain drove in the other two with a single to center.

Hofstra scored a run in the seventh on a Dalton Rouleau RBI infield single and a run in the ninth on a Jared Hammer RBI single.

Rouleau, Hammer and Kevin Flynn each had two hits for the Pride, who managed eight hits on the night.

The series continues Saturday at 2 p.m.
