Tight Ends/Offensive Recruiting Coordinator
Alma Mater: Sam Houston

Former Bearkat player Chris Rogers is entering his second season as the Bearkats' tight ends coach in 2019.

A former offensive lineman on the 2011 and 2012 Bearkat squads that each advanced to the FCS title game, Rogers served as a quality control assistant on the Bearkat staff in 2017 before being promoted into his current position prior to the 2018 season.

That came after a 2016 season spent at his high school alma mater - Columbine High School (Littleton, Colo.) - where he was the offensive line coach. There he coached a pair of all-state players, including ESPN top-100 player Andrew Gentry. Rogers also spent the 2015 season as the offensive line coach at Garden City Community College.

An all-conference player from 2006-09 at Columbine High School, he helped lead his team to a state title. He then went on to earn all-league honors at Iowa Central Community College in both 2009 and 2010 before coming to Sam Houston State.

Upon his arrival, Rogers has known nothing but success. During his two years playing under head coach Willie Fritz he helped anchor the offensive line, earning all-Southland Conference honors in both 2011 and 2012.
