Members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department took part in the Clean & Green Program this weekend.  Presented by the River City Company and sponsored by Volkswagen, the Clean & Green Program enlists the help of citizen groups to keep downtown Chattanooga beautiful.

The Mocs men's and women's basketball teams, the volleyball squad and other coaches and administrators worked in the area around the UTC campus.  They spent the Saturday morning before the start of final exams picking up trash, reporting graffiti and taking care of existing plants, trees and flowers.

"We obviously have a vested interest in this area, so it is important for us take part in programs that help improve and maintain the downtown and campus communities," stated Director of Athletics Rick Hart.  Hart and his family headed one of the many groups of Mocs volunteering this weekend.  "Our student-athletes, coaches and staff do an excellent job staying involved in the community and we had a great time working with them this weekend."
