STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State seeks to complete a perfect non-conference slate as it hosts Mississippi Valley State and Southern Miss in a pair of 7 p.m. kickoffs Friday and Sunday at the MSU Soccer Field.

Festivities for Friday's match against MVSU, which is being sponsored by L.A. Green Boutique, include numerous giveaways, a halftime exhibition by the MSU Ultimate Frisbee team and a post-game autograph session with the Bulldogs.

Fans at Friday's match also have the opportunity to win prizes through MSU Soccer's official Facebook page, www.facebook.com/mstateSOC.

In addition to Facebook, fans can stay updated on Bulldog soccer through Twitter at www.twitter.com/mstateSOC.

A free live video stream of both matches will be available at www.hailstate.com/hstvlive.

Sunday's game against the Golden Eagles will feature plenty of exciting games and giveaways, including drawings for $20 gift cards to several Starkville-area restaurants.

Neil Macdonald's squad enters the weekend with a 5-0 record, the second-best opening in program history. The Dawgs have scored 16 goals on the year, the most goals by an MSU team through the season's first five games.

Freshman Honeye Heydari and junior Elisabeth Sullivan have ignited the Mississippi State scoring barrage. Heydari was named SEC Freshman of the Week after she scored three of the Bulldogs' six goals in last weekend's 3-0 wins against Louisiana-Monroe and Georgia State.

Sullivan was also brilliant in the victories, scoring a goal in each match to go along with a career-best two assists against ULM.

Heydari and Sullivan have tallied five goals and three assists each to top the squad with 13 points apiece.

While the offense has been burning up the back of the net, the defense has been stingy in allowing opponents to strike, registering shutouts in the last three games.

Senior goalie Skylar Rosson shared the shutout with sophomore CJ Winship on Friday before recording another solo blank sheet on Sunday. Now with 9.1 career shutouts, Rosson enters the weekend two clean sheets shy of matching the school record.

The Edmond, Okla., native has faced just 36 shots this season thanks to stellar defensive line play, but when challenged she has risen to the occasion, halting 12 shots against three goals.

The Devilettes come to campus seeking their first win of the year. MVSU has struggled finding the net this season, as Nykosi Simmons has scored both of the team's goals.

Shelby Wilcocks has minded the nets in all four contests, stopping 36 shots while surrendering 16 goals.

Sunday's 7 p.m. match against USM features the return to campus of Golden Eagle head coach and former Bulldog assistant Scott Ebke. The team's assistant coach, Betty Ann Casey, was a standout goal-scorer for the Dawgs from 2002-05.

Southern Miss has started the season 2-1-1 following a pair of victories against Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Monroe last week.

Danica Roberts' pair of goals leads a USM squad has seen six different players score heading into a Friday matchup against South Alabama in Mobile.

Lindsey Schwaner has seen the majority of the minutes in goal, saving 15 shots and surrendering five goals.
