STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State freshman libero Roxanne McVey has bolted to the top of the Southeastern Conference in digs after the first weekend of volleyball competition.

The Magnolia, Texas, native piled up 88 digs in three matches last weekend during the MSU-hosted Maroon Classic, averaging 7.33 digs per set. In Saturday's tournament finale against Kennesaw State, McVey piled up 42 digs, breaking a 21-year old MSU record set in 1991 by Shauna Owens.

MSU leads the SEC in team digs with 267 (22.25 digs/set).

The Bulldogs (2-1) resume their 2012 campaign this weekend in Los Angeles, Calif., taking on sixth-ranked Southern Cal (3-0), No. 21 Northern Iowa (2-1) and Boston College (3-1) in the Luxe City Center Trojan Invitational hosted by USC.
