STARKVILLE, Miss. - With wins in eight of their last 10 games, No. 25 Mississippi State (29-18) meets Mississippi Valley State (14-35) Tuesday night in a makeup game at Dudy Noble Field. First pitch at Dudy Noble Field is set for 6:30 p.m.

The MSU-MVSU game, originally set to be played April 3, was canceled due to weather concerns. Season ticket patrons can use tickets from MSU's two rain-out games (Game 16 vs. Alabama A&M or Game 21 vs. Mississippi Valley State) for admission to Tuesday night's game.

Including early-season 13-5 and 5-1 wins over the Delta Devils, the Bulldogs have built up a 22-0 all-time series lead against MVSU.

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen will serve an NCAA-mandated one-game suspension Tuesday night after receiving a post-game ejection following Sunday's series finale at Alabama. State registered its third consecutive SEC series win and its fourth in five weeks in taking two of three games last weekend against the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs, ranked 25th this week by Baseball America, are tied for second in the SEC West and resume SEC competition this weekend with a three-game series at No. 5 Florida.

In the NCAA's latest national statistical rankings, the MSU pitching staff sports the NCAA's fifth-best staff earned run average (2.82), while junior pitcher Chris Stratton, a finalist for the ninth annual Ferriss Trophy, is tied for third nationally with 101 strikeouts. State's defense leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally with 53 double plays turned while Bulldog batters have been struck by pitches 76 times, second-most in the SEC and 15th nationally.
