STARKVILLE, Miss. - Head softball coach Vann Stuedeman announced Wednesday that registration is now open for the 2012 Mississippi State Softball Summer Camp, to be held June 11-14. Youth softball players looking for in-depth, personalized instruction from one of the best coaching staffs in the South can attend by signing up online or completing the brochure attached in this story and mailing it in.
The clinics will be held at the nationally-known MSU Softball Complex, the Shira Athletic Complex and the Palmeiro Center, Starkville's universally-praised softball indoor practice facility. Instruction for the camps will be provided by Stuedeman, assistant coaches Beth Mullins and Alan Reach and volunteer assistant Kelsi Dunne.
The camp is designed to provide intensive instruction on all aspects of the game of softball. The focus will be on defensive skills, hitting skills and game strategy. All defensive positions, including pitcher and catcher, will be covered. There will also be extensive work on hitting. The athletes will have the opportunity to scrimmage every day as well. Campers will be placed in teams based on age/skill level. The camp is open to all athletes entering second grade all the way up until 12th grade.
Cost for the overnight campers is $350, with commuting campers paying $290. Check-in is Monday, June 11, at 8 a.m. at Cresswell Hall. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from June 11-13, with the last day going from 9 a.m. till noon.
