
Undercuffler Second In Rice Award Voting

CHICAGO – University at Albany quarterback Jeff Undercuffler finished second in the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award voting, the organization announced Wednesday. Undercuffler was one of 20 finalists for the Rice Award this season.
Undercuffler, a redshirt-freshman from Delran, N.J. pulled in 14 first-place votes among a total of 395 points to finish second in the voting results, well clear of third-place Javon Williams, running back from Southern Illinois. North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance took home the award, garnering 691 points, including 116 first-place votes.
Undercuffler finished the year with single-season program records in touchdown passes (41) and passing yards (3,543). He led UAlbany to its first-ever FCS playoff victory, tossing a single-game record six touchdown passes in a blowout of Central Connecticut State at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Undercuffler’s 41 touchdown passes led the FCS in 2019.
A national panel of 156 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries voted on the Jerry Rice Award following the regular season. Voters selected a Top 5 on their ballot.
