The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at South Dakota State takes an active role in the campus and Brookings community by enhancing the total student-athlete experience through protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Throughout the year, SAAC organizes many community service events, including: adopting families for the holidays through the Department of Labor, toy drive for Project Joy, food drive for Summit League food fight with all proceeds and donations benefitting the Brookings Area Food Pantry, Robin Hood Project with collections given to the Women's Shelter in Brookings, reading with children at Hillcrest Elementary, visiting with residents at Edgewood Vista and campus cleanup.  Each year, there are always additional opportunities to help and SAAC gladly participates with programs such as Samaritan's Feet, State-A-Thon and helps with other one time community service events such as moving residents into The Neighborhoods at Brookview.

SAAC also works to create opportunities for student-athletes to come together and support one another with events and programs such as National Student-Athlete Day and Rowdy Rabbits.
