LACROSSE VOLUNTEERS WITH LIGHT THE NIGHT
On Saturday, November 6th, the Iona College women’s lacrosse team served at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2010 Light The Night Westchester Walk. The girls dedicated their time to help blow up balloons, hold signs at the entrance, and stuck lights into the balloons for the event. Each balloon represented something different; some balloons were representative of a survivor, of someone who passed away, or of children and/or adults who are still battling Leukemia. The girls were glad to have taken part in such a great cause and it was a valuable experience for them as well.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, based in White Plains, NY, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Proceeds from Light The Night support the LLS mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
