NEW ROCHELLE, NY - On Monday, April 26, the Iona College athletics department celebrated National Student-Athlete Day with an indoor barbeque in Mulcahy Gymnasium.  The event, sponsored by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, was an opportunity to pay tribute to all of Iona's athletes for their continued dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments over the past year.

Following the barbeque portion of the evening, two athletes were presented with the Scholar Athlete of the Year awards, recognizing one male and one female undergraduate upperclassman for their outstanding academic achievements.  The Male and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards were presented to Ryan Scott of the men's water polo team and Amber Blocher of the women's soccer team for having achieved the highest cumulative GPA among all male and female student-athletes.
