BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- CSU Bakersfield wrestling recently wrapped up the “Ride in Style” car raffle to benefit the program. The owner of the winning ticket had the chance to walk away with a 2017 Infiniti QX30, valued at more than $30,000. After 900 tickets were sold, the winning ticket belonged to the Barrentine Company, who declined to accept the vehicle and to donate the value of the vehicle back to the wrestling program.

With this act of generosity, the CSUB wrestling program generated more than $100,000 in revenue from the raffle which will benefit the team that has been community-supported since 2010. These events are crucial in sustaining the success of Roadrunner wrestling which recently sent five student-athletes to the NCAA Championships under then first-year head coach Manny Rivera.

“This was a great showing from our community in regards to the support we have for our wrestling program,” Rivera said. “From the sponsors to everyone who purchased a ticket and of course the Barrentine Company for their incredible show of support, we thank them all for continuing to support our efforts.”

Special thanks are in order for the sponsors of the “Ride in Style” raffle, Infiniti of Bakersfield, Mission Bank, Bland Solar, and Advanced Network Solutions.
