BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield second baseman David Metzgar became the 21st Roadrunner baseball player to sign a pro contract July 3 when he inked a free agent deal with the New York Yankees.

Metzgar completed his CSUB career as the Roadrunner record holder in five different categories and is second in three others. He was a three-time All-Conference selection (twice on the first team) and was named the 2015 Western Athletic Conference Tournament MVP, leading the Roadrunners to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Metzgar is the second CSUB player to sign a pro contract this season. Ryan Grotjohn was a 10th round draft choice of the Arizona Diamondback in the June Major League Baseball draft.
