Volunteer Assistant Coach
Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla.
High School: The Bolles School

A year removed from the playing field, former Catamount infielder and the 2018 recipient of the Leggett No.7 Legacy Cameron Blaquiere joined the WCU baseball coaching staff as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2019 season. In his position, he will work with the Catamount infielders and outfielders, while also handling many of the team operations during road trips.

A two-year standout on the left side of the infield at both shortstop and third base, Blaquiere played in over 100 games with 95 starts in two seasons after transferring to Western Carolina from Florida State College in Jacksonville, Fla. He finished his two years in Cullowhee with a .268 collective batting average with 32 of his 92 hits going for extra bases including 19 doubles, two triples, and 11 home runs, scoring 65 runs and driving in 57.

As a senior in 2018, Blaquiere was named to the Southern Conference All-tournament team after helping the Catamounts make an improbable run deep into the weekend, twice knocking off the regular season champion, UNCG. He collected nine hits including three multi-hit games in the tournament, homering twice in WCU’s single-elimination, opening-round win over The Citadel and tallied three hits against Mercer.

Blaquiere was named to the 2016-17 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll as a junior.
