MIAMI (May 1, 2012) - Mike Martinez homered in a 3-for-3 performance, but the FIU baseball team couldn't tame the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats dropping a mid-week game, 6-3.

After the Wildcats picked up four runs in the second, the Panthers responded with a run in the third to make it a 4-1 Bethune-Cookman advantage. Mike Martinez singled in Pablo Bermudez for the FIU run.

Down 5-1 in the sixth, Martinez made it a 5-2 game with his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot to left.

David Vazquez cut the Wildcat lead to 6-3 in the eighth when he grounded into a fielder's choice scoring Jabari Henry, who doubled to lead off the inning.

The Panthers will next travel to Ft. Myers, Fla. on Wednesday for a mid-week matchup against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
