Who wouldn't want to go to one of the top academnic schools in the country that also is in the running nearly every year to win an NCAA Championship in their respective sport. The year I was accepted, Dartmouth won the NCAA Championship really solidifying my decision to come here over somewhere else.
How long have you been skiing and what got you interested in skiing?
I think I learned to ski in conjuction with learning to walk. I started before I was 3 and have never looked back. I didn't get into racing until I was around 10. What really got me interested in racing was the chance to excel. I could ski everything on the mountain as a recreational skier and I needed something more. So I started racing and have been competitive about it ever since.
Have you won any academic or skiing awards recently?
The High School I attended does not award academic awards, however I did graduate top of my huge class of 6 in 8th Grade.
While skiing for Dartmouth last year I was also named to the Eastern Regional Team as well as qualifying and racing at US Senior Nationals where my best result was a 15th in the GS.
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
In the off-season I do XC Mountain Bike races competetively and as a safety precaution shave my legs. Some believe its for aerodynamics but that has nothing to do with it. It makes it easier to clean cuts and also makes it much less likely for your leg to get infected, never-the-less I catch a lot of crap about it.
What are your future plans, if any?
I still would really like to make the National Team with an ultimate goal of skiing in an Olympics. I'd also like to coach for a couple years after graduating to help give back to the sport, after that we'll see as I'm still undecided on a Major.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?
I'm a volunteer for the Rivendell Boys Mentoring program.
