Hilton Coliseum | Women's Basketball

The Cyclones and their rabid fan base have built James H. Hilton Coliseum into a hotbed of NCAA Division I women’s basketball, ranking in the top 10 in attendance over the last decade, and climbing as high as third in the nation in 2009.

Hilton Coliseum is recognized as one of the finest collegiate basketball facilities in the nation and Hilton Magic has been showcased for a national audience on a regular basis. Opposing coaches and student-athletes have marveled at the Hilton Coliseum atmosphere and the intense loyalty of ISU fans.

"To see what Bill Fennelly and his staff and this community have done, it's incredible,” Texas head coach Gail Goestenkors said following a game at Hilton Coliseum. “I'm hoping one day we can get our arena [like this] ... we have good fan support, but this is really something special."

Hilton Coliseum has recently undergone renovations that include a spectacular new score and video board and newly refurbished dressing rooms. The playing court has also been refinished and repainted with the new Iowa State logo and the “Cyclone” font. Hilton also houses a weight room, training room and media room.

The Cyclone women have called Hilton Coliseum home on a permanent basis since the 1982-83 season and under Bill Fennelly’s tutelage, Hilton has become one of the toughest places to play in the country for opponents. The Cyclones have won 85 percent of their home contests and have lost fewer than 10 times to non-conference opponents in Hilton Coliseum in Fennelly’s tenure at Iowa State.
