2013-14 Bowl Agreements

The Bowl Championship Series enters its 16th season in determining a champion for college football. The Big 12 is second with seven appearances in the BCS National Championship Game. From 2000-2005, Big 12 squads played in the title game five times during the six-year span.

The BCS consists of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Discover Orange Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl presented by VIZIO. In addition to the Big 12, the Atlantic Coast, Big Ten, Pacific-12 and Southeastern Conferences also have automatic berths for their champions into one of the four contests. Since the 2006 season, each bowl has hosted two games once every four years - its traditional game plus a National Championship contest approximately one week after the New Year.

This season the national championship game will be played in Pasadena, Calif. on January 6. ESPN holds television rights to the BCS under a four-year agreement that began with the 2010 season (2011 games).
