Boiling Springs, N.C. - The CSCAA announced that the GWU women's swim team has recorded a top 10 GPA in the nation for the 2011 spring semester. The Runnin' Bulldogs' 3.52 GPA tied the University of South Carolina's for ninth best in the country.

Gardner-Webb's women's swim program also achieved several awards at the GWU Academic Awards banquet.

Said Head Men's and Women's Coach Mike Simpson: "Once again, our swimmers performed in the classroom as well as in the pool this semester. It's always great when your team can be in the top ranking in the nation. That was a nice end to a fantastic season of fast swimming all year and academic and community accomplishments announced this spring. We are proud of the nine individuals who were honored at the GWU Academic/Serice Awards: Brianna Bleymaier, George Partin, Rachel Warkentin, Tory Bryant, Michelle Palacio, Elizabeth Charter, Sarah Stokes, Matt Leonard, and Sarah Steadman."

The Runnin' Bulldogs open the 2011-2012 competition season Sep. 24 in an open water meet at Moss Lake, N.C.
