TAMPA - B.J. Daniels has earned more national attention heading into a very promising year for USF's signal caller.

The senior quarterback found out Monday that he's a candidate for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Candidates for the award must be completing their college eligibility or be a fourth-year junior that's on schedule to graduate with his class. The award's selection committee judges candidates based on character, citizenship, leadership qualities, scholastic achievements and athletic accomplishments.

This marks the second watch list that Daniels was named to this preseason. The Tallahassee native also is a candidate for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award after excelling in the Bulls' system last season. Daniels' 2,585 passing yards were 900 more than his 2010 total despite him playing in one less game last year. Daniels also became a better protector of the ball, throwing just seven interceptions after totaling 13 in 2010.
