Marist Leads MAAC In Academic Honor Roll Selections For 11th Straight Year

EDISON, N.J. - Marist had a conference-best 237 student-athletes named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll, which was released on Wednesday. The Red Foxes had the MAAC's highest total of honorees for the 11th straight year.

The students placed on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll cover 22 of Marist's 23 varsity sports. The lone exception is football, in which the Red Foxes compete in the Pioneer Football League (PFL). Marist had 27 student-athletes named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll, which requires a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

In the 2011-12 academic year, Marist had 16 student-athletes earn CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District selections. Senior swimmer Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.) was named Third Team Academic All-American.

A student-athlete must maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale to be nominated for the Honor Roll, which is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC. A total of 1,569 student-athletes were honored. Here is the total number of honorees per school:
