Spiders in Eighth after First Day at CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team carded a first round 294 (+6) to place eighth after the first round of the CAA Championship on Friday.  James Madison leads the 10-team field with a score of 294 (+6).

The Spiders were led by three golfers who all sit in a tie for 32nd with first round totals of 81 (+9).  Juniors Tracy Martin and Caroline Lovette played consistently on Friday, with each carding scores of 41-40 to shoot their scores. 

Sophomore Lauren Conder played very well on the front nine, scoring a 36 on the front and a 45 on the back.  All three Richmond golfers are just two shots off of the top-20 after the first day of play.

Junior Courtney Rousse finished just one stroke off her teammates after the first round, placing 38th with a score of 82 (+10).  Rounding out the Spiders' effort in the first round was sophomore Danielle Pinder, who sits in a tie for 39th with a total of 83 (+11).

The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will look to make a charge up the leaderboard on Saturday when the team will play the second round of the CAA Championship.  Live stats for the second round can be found at
