Sievertsen Named to Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Junior kicker Tyler Sievertsen has been named to the 2012 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List for the second consecutive year it was announced today by selection committee chairman Chris Kearney.

Sievertsen joins 43 other kickers from across the country on the list with 16 being from the FCS, 11 being members of Division II, 14 from Division III and three from the NJCAA. Sievertsen, who was a finalist for the award last season, joins 22 other finalists from 2011 on this year's list.

Sievertsen is coming off another successful season where he led the Panthers in scoring with 93 points from 18 of 20 field goals and 39 of 39 PATs. He finished second in field goal percentage with 90 percent during the 2011 season. He earned 2011 first team All-Conference, MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week three times and was voted 2011 Special Teams MVP by his teammates.

The annual Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award is provided to the nation's top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams. The award is named for Fred Mitchell, the record-setting place-kicker and Wittenberg University Athletic Hall of Famer.

The recipient of the award will be chosen based on excellence on the football field and in the community. The winner of the Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in mid-December.
