Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball team, winners of two straight and six of its last eight, will look to keep their momentum going in a non-conference weekend series at Delaware State. The three-game set begins Friday at 3 p.m., and continues Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Hofstra (11-11) will also be looking to eclipse the .500 mark on the season for the first time since owning a 4-3 record in 2008. The Pride is coming off a come-from-behind 9-7 win at Marist on Tuesday in a game that saw the team rally from a 7-2 fifth-inning deficit.
The Hornets (14-10-1) enter the weekend having won two of three games from Maryland-Eastern Shore. Delaware State has played two Colonial Athletic Association teams this season and own two wins over Delaware, while losing to Towson.
Hofstra will turn to Andrew Barbarino to start the opener. The junior is makinghis first start since May 2, 2010. Barbarino is 1-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA and one save. He will be opposed by DSU's Jordan Elliott, who is 3-2 with a 2.19 ERA on the season. In his last start he threw a four-hit shutout in a 13-0 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore.
John Tiedemann (2-3, 7.30) will start game two for Hofstra against Matt McClain (3-2, 1.96), while Dave Jesch (3-0, 2.89) will get the ball in game three for the Pride and will face Zach Adkins (2-1, 2.70).
