SAN JOSE, Calif. - Feb. 5 - San Jose State's Thomasina Wallace scored an SJSU school-record 39.425 in the all-around and captured four individual titles as Southern Utah University gymnastics suffered defeat in San Jose 194.875 - 192.125 on Sunday afternoon.

The Thunderbirds began the meet with the lead after scoring a 48.600 on bars with freshmen Ana Jaworski and Rochelle Bernier leading the way with matching 9.775's. Jamie Armijo and Lauren Jeffrey were close behind with a pair of 9.750's with Brooke Cersosimo rounding out the team score with a 9.550.

San Jose State began the meet on vault, scoring a 48.550 with Wallace finishing first on the event with a 9.850.

Southern Utah's advantage disappeared after the second rotation as the Spartans scored a 49.100 on bars to take a 97.650 to 96.800 lead. Wallace tallied her second title of the meet with a 9.900 on the event.

Southern Utah freshmen accounted for all five scored marks during the second rotation on vault as the Thunderbirds finished with a 48.200. Brittney Jensen was tops on the team with a 9.775 with Bernier finishing second on the team with a 9.725.

SUU made up a little ground after scoring a 48.325 on floor to San Jose State's 48.200 on beam with the Spartans having to count a fall (9.375). The team scores put the meet at 145.850 to 145.125 in San Jose's favor.

Southern Utah's lineup on floor only included five athletes with the first three athletes notching the top marks, including Jaworski's 9.750, Jensen's 9.775 and Alyssa Click's 9.800. Click's mark was especially strong as the junior suffered a foot injury during her first pass, but gutted out the routine in spite of the injury.

The meet was decided in the final rotation as an injury depleted lineup for the Thunderbirds on beam suffered three falls, having to count two as SUU scored a season-low 47.00 on the event. Caitlin Kennedy tallied the top score for Southern Utah with a 9.675.

The Spartans finished the night with a 49.025 on floor as SJSU's Julia Greer earned the final title for San Jose after scoring a 9.850. The finish left Southern Utah without an individual title during a regular season meet for the first time since the 2010 season.

The Thunderbirds will take part in their fourth of six consecutive road meets next weekend, competing in a four-way meet with Nebraska, Michigan and Washington in Lincoln, Nebraska. Live stats for the meet are anticipated to be available for the meet online at
