The South Dakota State Cross Country teams have announced their 2013 schedule on Wednesday, which will feature eight meets. The men’s team is looking to defend their 2012 conference championship and the women are in search of their second league title.

The season will begin on August 30th when they travel up to Fargo, N.D. to compete in the NDSU Triangular. North Dakota will also compete in the meet.

A week after the NDSU Triangular, SDSU will head to Falcon Heights, Minn. to take part in the OZ Memorial hosted by the University of Minnesota. The OZ Memorial is on September 6th.

Following the OZ Memorial, the Jackrabbits will prep themselves for the famed Griak Invitational on September 28th. This will be the 28th running of the Griak Invitational, which is one of the largest Cross Country meets in the nation.

After the Griak Invitational, SDSU will be home on Friday, October 4th to host their annual SDSU Classic at Edgebrook Golf Course starting at 6pm.  At the SDSU Classic last year, the men finished first with Trent Lusignan taking first place and Michael Krsnak claiming second.

SDSU will be attending the Bradley “Pink” Classic on October 18th, which will have all the competitors wearing pink uniform tops for breast cancer awareness. This meet draws competitors from several Midwest conferences and “It should provide a good assessment of the teams fitness prior to the Summit League Championships", according to head Coach Rod DeHaven.

The Summit League Cross Country Championships are slated for November 2nd in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Jackrabbit men are the defending champs and the women will be looking to improve on their third place finish from last year.

The Jackrabbits will have their final tune-up for the Midwest Regional meet when they travel to Collegeville, Minn. to take part in the Fall Finale on November 8th. The Fall Finale is hosted in joint effort by the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s.

On November 15th the Jackrabbits will head to Ames, Iowa to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional where the men finished 11th and women finished 15th among the 30 plus schools in the region. The 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional is hosted by Iowa State on their on-campus cross country course.
