BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's soccer team will continue its season with a pair of matches this week. The Roadrunners will host Denver at the Main Soccer Field on Aug. 31 before traveling to play Fresno State on Sept. 2.

“After the travel for the past two weekends, it feels good to be back at home and establish somewhat of a schedule,” said Gary Curneen, Head Coach of the `Runners. “Both opponents play different styles but will be similar in the sense that we will need to be at our best to get the results. We are starting to become a little more confident in our system and each other. We must continue to push on with the same hunger, drive, and willingness to improve. There is no better way to do that than up against top quality opponents like Denver and Fresno State.”

Denver will come to Bakersfield undefeated with a record of 3-0-1 on the young season. In a pair of home matches last week, the Pioneers tied against UC Riverside, 2-2, before taking care of Albany, 5-1. Sophomore midfielder Hannah Adler leads the team with three goals on the year.

Fresno State (1-2-0) will host the `Runners after a road trip to compete against CSUN on Thursday. The Bulldogs lost a pair of matches by identical scores of 2-1 last week. Senior forward Myra Delgadillo was Fresno State's leader in both goals (9) and assists (8) a year ago and returns for the Bulldogs in 2017.

Thursday's match against Denver is set for a 7 p.m. kick off at the Main Soccer Field and will feature the annual Rowdy Run. Fans who cannot make it out can watch live via the WAC Digital Network. Sunday's match in Fresno is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
